Two New Shodans Lead The List of Shufu Promotions

New Shodans Daniel Smith and Robert Mitchell flank Sensei Edwin Takemori

 

The Shufu Board of Examiners met during the October 2nd Promotional and awarded new ranks to the following judoka:

 

To SHODAN (1st Degree Black Belt)

Daniel Smith, U.S. Naval Academy

Robert Mitchell, U.S. Naval Academy

 

To SANDAN (3rd Degree Black Belt)

George Antoniou, Dale City

 

To YODAN (4th Degree Black Belt)

Edmund Nsheuko, College Park

 

The Board of Examiners also recommended the following judoka to the national USJF Board of Examiners for rank promotion.  These recommendations were accepted by the national board and rank promotions were awarded:

 

To ROKUDAN (6th Degree Black Belt):

Pam Hinkle (Blue Dragon)

 

To SHICHIDAN (7th Degree Black Belt):

Fran Vall (Washington Judo Club)

Robert Champy (Shinzan Dojo)

Miki Takemori (Toshi Budokai)

Shufu’s Athlete Funding
Program provides reimbursement ($150 to $300) for athletes competing in National and
International level events. Juniors, Seniors, Masters/Veterans, and Kata competitors
can all apply to the Shufu Athlete Funding Program. If you have been a member of Shufu for at least 2 years and have participated in any of the events listed below, then you should consider applying for Shufu’s Athlete Funding Program!

 2025 USA Judo Senior National Championships
 2025 USA Judo President’s Cup
 2025 US Open
 2025 USJF/USJA Nationals
 2025 Pan American Cups or 2025 Pan American Championships
 2025 IJF Point Events (Grand Prix, Grand Slams, or Championships)
