By now we are all aware of the Coronavirus outbreak worldwide. Judo practitioners are especially encouraged to keep themselves informed in light of the close physical contact that is the nature of our sport.
The disease (COVID-19) caused by the Coronavirus can be mild, severe, and even fatal, and can be spread by respiratory droplets from coughing or sneezing as well as close human proximity.
This is not the flu. The mortality rate of COVID-19 illness is many times greater than that of seasonal flu.
Shufu strongly encourages all judoka, especially those in leadership and instruction positions, to become familiar with the ways to protect our students and ourselves from contracting the disease and limiting its spread to others.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updates its Coronavirus/COVID-19 website daily, giving the most authoritative and up-to-date information available for communities, businesses and schools, healthcare professionals, and others.
