Three Kata Teams placed highly in the 2018 IJF Kata World Championships held in Cancun, Mexico on October 15 – 16, the USA’s best-ever results at Kata’s premier event.
The Shufu group of Karl Tamai and Diane Tamai Jackson placed 6th in Ju no Kata, and Rob Gouthro and Lisa Capriotti equaled that 6th place in Kime no Kata. Gerardo Tello and Sergio Suguieda (Florida) placed 5th in Nage no Kata.
Also competing from Shufu were Rahmon Burton and Wayne Lifshitz, competing in Goshin Jutsu in their second Kata World Championships.
