Competition: There will be junior shiai and senior newaza only competition. Sensei Sharon Landstreet, IJF A referee, will be offering Local referee certification at the tournament. Candidates should let her know ahead of time of their interest in certifying. Shufu Reaps Gold, Silver at Pan Am Judo Championships in Havana

Congratulations to the USA national kata judo team for their accomplishments at the Pan Am Judo Championships in Havana Cuba on April 28, 2016. They were honored with 3 gold medals and 3 silver medals.
Robert Gouthro and Lisa Capriotti won gold in Nage no Kata mixed and Kime no Kata mixed. Diane Tamai Jackson and Karl Tamai won gold in Ju no Kata mixed and silver in Katame no Kata mixed. Doug and Douglas Newcomer (father and son) won silver in men’s Katame no Kata and Kime no Kata. Doug Tono and Andrezej Dajnowski won fourth in Kodokan Goshin Jutsu.
Thank you for all of your hard work and effort to get there. You make all of us proud. Thank you to the operations team that ran the kata portion of the event… Barbara Anderson, Karen Whilden, Carla Martin and Frances Glaze. USJF ATHLETE-SCHOLAR OF THE YEAR AWARD RULES AND ELIGIBILITY FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2025-2026
The United States Judo Federation Board of Directors has established the “USJF Athlete-Scholar of the Year Award.” First prize is $1,000.00, second prize $750.00, and third prize $500.00.

Program provides reimbursement ($150 to $300) for athletes competing in National and
International level events. Juniors, Seniors, Masters/Veterans, and Kata competitors
can all apply to the Shufu Athlete Funding Program. If you have been a member of Shufu for at least 2 years and have participated in any of the events listed below, then you should consider applying for Shufu’s Athlete Funding Program!
