Just a reminder that the Shufu Open is coming up on October 5th at DeMatha High School in Hyattsville MD. We will have 4 mats.

The morning competition will be masters, all katas and junior  boys and girls. Afternoon competition will be senior men and women.

Entry form and information is attached to this email. Please share it with your fellow judoka and families.

As a reminder, there is NO ONSITE registration.

**We encourage old fashion mail in registration of all required paperwork.

Early Pre- registration discounts end soon so take advantage of the $10 discount and register early

Regular registration is open most of September.

You must have a complete registration packet for registration. That means entry form, payment, waiver, non black belt certificate, proof of membership

A $5 refund will be given for Shufu members who turn in a complete registration.

registration can be done online through good forms and payment via pay apl with a credit card, however you must submit the waiver. If you register online should will receive an email confirmation. If you do not, then you are not registered. if you register online, it is strongly recommended that you bring proof of all documentation with you to the event

Local and regional referee testing can be done, please contact karl Tamai.

We ask that all local and regional referees please come support this event. Please encourage your senior judoka to start refereeing as well.

It takes over 100 volunteers to make events like this happen. We are always happy to have any and all volunteers to help support the event. No experience is necessary. Please let me know of you have anyone one able to give some time to help the event be successful.

Coach Certification

SafeSport Certification is now required for all USJF registered clubs. If you have already completed the course and submitted a copy of your certificate, you do not need to resubmit. For more information or to take the course, please visit https://athletesafety.org/

Heads Up concussion training, through the CDC’s website, is a requirement for all members of your USJF registered club who function as teachers at any time. Please advise all of your instructors and assistant instructors of this requirement. The training can be accessed at: http://www.cdc.gov/headsup/

Hilaire Notewo Seeking Donations for Judo Programs in the Ivory Coast, Needs Gis and Equipment

Longtime Shufu Judo member Hilaire Notewo is planning to relocate to Côte D’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Africa in late November/December. He will be supporting judo programs, but equipment (esp. judo uniforms) are difficult to come by.  Hilaire is looking for gently used judo gis and other equipment.  Hilaire will also be visiting and donating goods to orphanages.  Should you have gently used shoes, clothes for teenagers, youths, and toddlers, kindly make them available to Hilaire.
